HOW TO:  run a delay  ramp

• stop current Run using Calorimeter Crates
• ask to stop run and take Calorimeter Crates out of combined cofiguration

 
• set T&C mode
• open  T&C GUI: /online/config/cal/tanc/TCmon.py
•  set  timing for the baseline sampling:
• click on Global BLS  Mode
• select x1 - 2 ticks
               => baseline is sampled at -5BC instead of the nominal -3BC
                 => gain path is fixed to x1: this should be used if the pulse is sufficiently high (DAC > 10000) else use x8 - 2 ticks
• set ADC Mode
• click on Global ADC Mode
• select Unsup
               => reads out all cells without Pedestal subtraction or 0-suppression
• set T&C Mode
• click on Global T&C set
• select x889
• set read-out timing w.r.t. puls start
•  click on  T&C for crate NW 02 0x42
• enter choosen value in TICK field
       => ramps with different values should be taken in order to fix this parameter
     take a ramp with 0 (normal), 2 (2 ticks early),  4 (2 ticks late)
• verify T&C setting
• open Calorimeter Power Supply Montiroting GUI: /online/config/cal/supplies_all.py
• go toMode page
• T&C  Mode should be 0x889
• Diag should  not be 0 for card 2 if non-0 value was given in the Tick-field
• ADC/BLS Mode should be 0x8a01 if  x1 - 2 ticks or 0x8b01 if x8 - 2ticks

• set initial Pulser configuration
• open Pulser Control GUI: /online/config/cal/pulser.py
• shutdown all pulsers
• select  all pulsers and click Shutdown
• initialize pulser setting in the GUI
• select  all pulsers you would like to use
          typically all pulsers except  ICD (number 12)
• set DAC Value
           using gain 1: DAC=20000
          using gain 8: DAC=5000
• set  channel enables
           set: Enable All
      ! click twice on the enable all buttons after a shutdown, all enables must be red
• set command enables
           set: Cmd All
      ! click twice on the enable all buttons after a shutdown, all enables must be red
• set initial Delays
          set: Delay All = 0
         ! type return, such that the value in the Delay All field is seen in the 6 individual delay fields
• Download! all values to pulsers

• check Pulser settings
• open Calorimeter Power Supply Montiroting GUI: /online/config/cal/supplies_all.py
• go to PLS Mode page:
• selected channels for all selected pulsers should be set to 1
• selected commands  for all selected pulsers should be set to 1
• DAC values for selected pulsers should be set to choosen value
• DELAY values for selected pulsers should be set to choosen initial value
• all not selected pulsers should have DAC value=0,  DELAY value=0
• all not selected channels or commands should =0

• start  Delay-ramp in the PIB
• indicate delay ramp mode
• click on Delay Ramp
              !  in request-field 66 should appear
• enter ramp parameters
• number of Step
            put: 50 (max 255)
• Step size
         put: 5 (min 1, max 255)
• Ev/Steps
          put: 50
       => ramp between 0 and 250 with 50 Steps of a delay of 5 units and 50 events per step
• Download! ramp request to PIB
               => a ramp-status window should pop up
 
• start a Pulser run
• open a Taker-Window, or ask DAQ shifter
• Modify Trigger
                         select cal-pulsar-test-1.1.xtm
• start new run

=> events should start to be counted in the ramp-status window
=> when a new step of the ramp occurs the delay values in the supply-all GUI change
• stop run, when all events are collected
• write the run-number carefully to the logbook! and send it to to bassler@in2p3.fr
